Week beginning Sunday 3rd May
(Genesis 15:5 & 22:17)
Abraham and his family had to leave home and move to a new place but they weren't told where it was going to be. They obeyed and just left. How do you think they felt? Would you be able to trust God if he asked you to do something brave like that?
Abraham was told he would have many descendants...
What is a descendent?
God promised Abraham that he would have as many descendants as there are stars in the sky and grains of sand on the shore. How many do you think that is?
Why did Abraham find that hard to believe?
Abraham and Sarah were promised a child but they were too old to have children. What God did was impossible! But he did it!
God loved Abraham very much and took care of him. Abraham loved God too.
God made a covenant with Abraham. That's a special promise that can't be broken. He makes lots of special promises to us too. We can find them in the Bible. Can you think of any?
What about this one:
'The Lord has promised that he will not leave us or desert us.' (Hebrews 13:5)
