Nehemiah

(Nehemiah 1-4)

  • Nehemiah was far from home and he heard that his homeland was in ruins.  He wanted to go and help but he didn't know how.

  • When the king saw he was sad Nehemiah told him and asked if he could go back and help.  Not only did the king say yes but he gave him a way to get there safely and gave him lots of resources to rebuild the city.  Wow!

  • When he got there Nehemiah took him time, trying to ask God what he wanted him to do.  Eventually he gathered people round and they started to rebuild the walls.

  • His enemies were shouting at them and trying to make them stop but Nehemiah knew this was what God wanted him to do so he kept on going.

  • Have you ever had to do the right thing but people were laughing at you or telling you to stop?  Did you have the courage to do the right thing still?

  • God promises that he is with us when he sends us to do things, just like he was with Nehemiah.  Ask God to be with you this week.
